Biography

Dr Linda Rae Bennett is a medical anthropologist, who joined the Nossal Institute as an Honorary Research Associate in 2010. She is an ARC Future Fellow conducting a comprehensive study of compromised fertility in Indonesia. Her primary areas of expertise are sexual and reproductive health and human rights, among youth and women from Muslim populations in Southeast Asia and Australia. Key publications include: Body, Sexuality and Gender among Contemporary Indonesian Youth (2008; Ed with Parker); Women, Islam and Modernity (2005) and Violence Against Women in Asian Societies (2003: Ed with Manderson). She has also worked with WHO, the Global Forum for Health, AusAID and GTZ.
