| Biography |
Greg Armstrong is a social worker and research fellow with the Nossal Institute for Global Health at The University of Melbourne. Greg's main area of interest is in the non-specialist delivery of primary mental health care, and he has recently coordinated a Victorian-based randomised controlled trial designed to evaluate the effectiveness of a brief training package on cognitive behavioural strategies for social workers. In 2010 Greg is coordinating India-based research into the effectiveness of a training manual designed to improve the mental health literacy of community health workers. Additionally, Greg provides quantitative research expertise to the Nossal Institute's program of work in the area of HIV harm reduction in North East India.
Prior to joining the Nossal in 2009, Greg was receiving advanced quantitative research training through the Centre for European Policy Studies in Luxembourg and Belgium, and conducted research into patterns of paid informal care provision within the long term care program in the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg. Greg has worked as a social worker in Victoria primarily in the area of community mental health, and additionally holds a B.Comm from Monash University.
