Biography

Kathryn James is a Research and Training Officer for the CBM – Nossal Institute Partnership for Disability-Inclusive Development. She previously worked for several years as a Country Program Coordinator for World Vision Australia, overseeing and project managing development programs in Asia including Laos and Bangladesh. She worked to promote disability issues and capacity development on disability within WVA. She has also worked in the advocacy team, and participated in a joint research project with Monash University into the effects of the tsunami on children in Sri Lanka. She spent a year as an Australian Youth Ambassador in Sri Lanka  working for Oxfam Australia as a Documentation and Advocacy Officer, documenting and analysing tsunami response programs and facilitating improved policies and practices for future disaster response activities. Kathryn holds a B.A. (Hons) in Political Science and an M.A. in Development Studies (Gender and Development).  Her sectoral interests include gender and HIV.
