The Nossal Institute's commitment to improving global health is realised through three strategic themes: research, education and development assistance .

Research

Research is critical for providing the evidence base for improved global health.

There is a need to identify better ways of applying what is already known, and a key goal of the Nossal Institute is to conduct quantitative and qualitative research to strengthen development programs with relevant evidence, recognising that advances in global health needs input not only from traditional biomedical research, but also from social sciences, law, arts, and public policy. Education

Imagine conducting a rapid assessment of child health needs in a remote village where literacy levels are low and you do not speak the local language. Picture yourself working with a government to address the health concerns of illicit drug users in a country that imprisons them. Your previous training may not serve you well. Skills and ideas that work in one setting may not work in another. [read more]
