Development Assistance
The Nossal Institute's development assistance contribution is underpinned by a commitment to apply research to practice, and to draw and share lessons from field experience.The Nossal Institute manages, or works with others on major programs in areas including HIV and harm reduction, maternal, adolescent and child health, workforce development, and health system strengthening, with local and international partners.
The Institute works with a number of bilateral and multi-lateral agencies and philanthropic donors including AusAID, UN agencies such as UNAIDS, UNFPA, WHO, The Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation and Atlantic Philanthropies. Work in development assistance is implemented with local government and non-government partners, and focuses on fostering local ownership and capacity development. The Institute's consultancies are broad-ranging, covering various health specialities, research skills training and mentoring, policy development, and program planning, design and evaluation.
The Nossal Institute's development assistance work is supported by strong in-house project management capacity and corporate finance, legal and human resource management, and quality assurance systems.
