Public health leadership
The Nossal Institute conducts an intensive five day Public Health Leadership subject as part of the University of Melbourne MPH each year at the end of June to early July. It is coordinated and taught by Rob Moodie, Tim Moore and Brigitte Tenni and is highly interactive with a number of group tasks and guest lecturers all who play important leadership roles in their work and lives. In 2010 the guest lecturers included Jason Clarke (Minds at Work), Jo Chandler (senior writer at the Age), Prof. David Hill (Director of the Cancer Council Victoria), Gabriel Gate (celebrity chef and author), Molly Meldrum (music industry guru), Prof. Doreen Rosenthal (former head of ARCHS and Key centre for Women’s Health in Society) and Lyn Allison (former leader of the Australian Democrats).Comments from this year’s students included:

The Institute also conducts a number of shorter three day courses as part of the Australian Leadership Award Fellowship program. Modified versions of the course are also offered as part of the MPH in Mozambique with Rob Moodie, and in Thailand, Public Sector Leadership with Tim Moore. This course can also be taken as a short course for people not undertaking MPH studies.
