Intervention Models Workshop
On 23 June 2011, the project held a national “Intervention Models Workshop” in Hanoi, with stakeholders drawn from government, non-government and peer support groups for women who inject drugs from both Hanoi and HCMC. The workshop provided the opportunity to present the end-of-project findings, with a view to addressing the transmission and infection risks related to female injecting drug use. The focus of the workshop was to consider the research findings on the demographics, preferences and practices of the population of women IDUs reached in this study, and develop (through small group work) concrete suggestions for HIV preventive interventions and advocacy.
With data collection and analysis completed, the project now enters the final stage of drafting and dissemination of the findings. Forthcoming events and research products to be undertaken during this final phase include: presentation of findings at the 10th International Congress on AIDS in Asia and the Pacific; and production of a photo-illustrated book of findings from the research, including a summary of the recommended interventions for the HIV prevention, health and wellbeing of women who inject drugs.
