The Overcoming Stigma and Discrimination Project (OSD Project) aims to combat stigma and discrimination against people living with HIV/AIDS (PLHIV) in Nagaland and Manipur through a mix of mass media and community based interpersonal communication interventions to raise people's awareness and change attitudes about HIV/AIDS.

Why it Worked

Reducing self-stigma for PLHIV was one of the OSD Project's major successes. "For me, it [understanding stigma and discrimination] was very educational because I come from a broken family and I have a father who is a drug addict. I do not discriminate against people because I have an understanding. Since the day they showed us the DVD there was some kind of inner feeling. People used to ignore us and did not like to include us. I spoke in the church about all of these things. Most of the people, the youth, now try and interact more." (click on the images below to access the information and their respective videos)
